TCF Speaking (Expression Orale)

 

The Speaking section of the TCF evaluates a candidate's ability to communicate orally in French, reflecting real-life scenarios such as interviews, discussions, and presenting opinions.

 

1. Nature of the Test:

●       The test aims to objectively evaluate a candidate's oral proficiency in French.

●       Tasks are designed to simulate authentic spoken communication situations, including interviews, information exchanges, and argumentative discourse.

●       The speaking tasks increase in complexity to assess various levels of spoken fluency.

2. Format:

●       Guided Interview (3 min): Answer personal questions on familiar topics.

●       Information Exchange (5 min): Respond to scenarios with details.

●       Opinion & Argumentation (5 min): Justify opinions with examples.

●       Total Duration: 12–15 minutes.

3. Assessment Criteria:

Candidates’ responses are evaluated based on the following:

●       Cohesion and Coherence: Logical structuring and connection of ideas.

●       Vocabulary: Use of appropriate and varied vocabulary to convey meaning.

●       Grammar: Correct use of tenses, sentence structure, and agreement.

●       Pronunciation: Clear articulation, intonation, and rhythm.

●       Engagement and Creativity: Ability to express ideas fluently and naturally.

4. Time Allowed:

Total duration for the Speaking section is approximately 12–15 minutes, allocated as follows:

●       Task 1: 3 minutes.

●       Task 2: 5 minutes.

●       Task 3: 5 minutes.
